A family journey through a mountain tunnel transforms into an enchanted vision of Disneyland—all captured through a carefully designed virtual-production workflow.
The spot required a moving Honda Odyssey interior to pass seamlessly from a practical mountain tunnel into a magical Disney environment. The transition needed precise perspective, believable speed, and consistent interactive light while keeping the family and vehicle grounded in-camera.
We designed the sequence before the shoot using a scale 3D model of the stage, real-world measurements, and the production camera specifications. That virtual plan established vehicle placement, camera position, lens choice, focal distance, screen geometry, and playback speed for every shot.
The approved environments were transferred to the live-action LED stage, allowing the enchanted exterior, reflections, and moving light to be photographed together on the day. The result feels cinematic and magical while remaining technically controlled from previs through final pixel.
We built a scale digital version of the stage to design the tunnel sequence with real-world dimensions and camera data. This let the team solve the physical relationship between the Odyssey, camera, lens, and LED screens before arriving on set.
As the enchanted exteriors were created, we tested them on a virtual stage to judge the apparent speed of the moving landscape, the perspective through each window, and the timing of the tunnel transition before transferring the content to the live-action stage.
With the sequence finalized in preproduction, the virtual exteriors were played across LED screens surrounding the practical vehicle. The environment, reflections, and interactive illumination were captured together in-camera, creating a seamless passage from the real world into Disneyland.
